Quarter Life Crisis
I recently saw a Tiktok that said there are three indicators that your friend is going through a quarter life crisis - they either apply to grad school, sign up to run a half marathon, or apply to be on Survivor. I am happy to report that I'm well on my way to earning my Quarter-Life Crisis Triple Crown.
I ran my first official half marathon on Sunday in Brooklyn. Between us, I didn’t run the whole thing… All last week my knee was bothering me, so much so that I really considered not running at all. But after going to the race expo I felt like I needed to try. The energy around running in 2025 is electric; it’s a social renaissance for us cross country kids. I limped through the first seven miles in a very painful 7:45 pace, then stopped because the pain was seriously excruciating. After 30 minutes of time to rest, cheer, and overthink, I snuck back onto the course at mile 11 and hobbled to the finish line to claim my finisher medal! Ironic.
It really was so fun - Hallie killed it (and looks so much better than I do in the official race photos) and then we celebrated with mimosas and brunch! This was my favorite time in the city and the first time where I could begin to envision spending time there. I think I love Spring. The plants here in Virginia are unreal and brighten my day each week, and something about the sun and warm breezes give me a sense of fresh beginnings that make everything feel possible.
What’s in my cart
Kendrick Lamar wore flared jeans so I want to wear flared jeans. Please please please be honest with me about them. Here’s a picture from the fitting room but I am waiting a few days to try them on with my clothes. If they’re bad I am begging for you to let me know now.
What I am eating
I recently woke up one morning and remembered that french toast is a thing and now I enjoy it once a week. In this economy it might be nice to have forgotten about any meal that calls for eggs, but it’s been the perfect post run snack. If my knee keeps me from running for the next few weeks I will need to cut back on all of this bread.
What I am listening too
I know I just praised Spring, but girls get ready for Lorde Summer. What Was That is our “prettier Jesus” giving us exactly what we need. She’s teasing us about where she’s going even with such a short chorus, but I am ready to hop in. Hindsight rarely captures the magic of the moment, but if the soundtrack to reliving it sounds like this, I’m all in.
What I am watching
Survivor 48 - duh. I think this season will unfold to be either an instant classic or a complete dud. I’ve personally decided that there are 4 winners who would make me happy and 4 winners who would be extremely disappointing. I also submitted (another) application last week, and completed the final step of the Quarter-Life Crisis Triple Crown.
Thanks to y’all who noticed I skipped a week. I just wasn’t in the mood to write, but this was fun. Love you all dearly.
Here are some of the pictures where I look ridiculous. I am not paying $80 to download them so they’ll stay blurry (probably a good thing for me).

Love this - glad you crossed the finish line and then indulged in good food and fun! I think those jeans look cool!!
Love it, Chadster. Though I will say I cannot stand this Lorde single.
